Your retail placement is actually a nine-month course – running from September to June the following year – and split into five sections. It ends with a last project set by your Regional Director.
Find out why day-to-day doesn’t mean run-of-the-mill.
From day one, you’ll find out what Aldi – and retailing – is all about. The Store Operations section is longest because you’ll learn the most. You’ll do everything. From stacking shelves to shadowing a Store Manager. Even occasionally stepping into their shoes to order stock, deal with customers and motivate the store team. It’s four months of intensive, fascinating work – but it’s not for the faint-hearted.
Time is money. So we’ll show you how to make the most of every minute. You’ll cover everything from efficient, streamlined stock distribution to vehicle tracking and routing. This is one of the key pillars of retailing and you’ll be learning from the very best.
One of the basics of retailing is finding the delicate balance between the right price to buy at and the price a consumer’s happy to pay. Everyone wants value. Everyone wants to maximize their profits. It’s a monetary minefield. But in the Trading section of the scheme, you’ll learn how to source product, negotiate prices and maintain supplier relationships profitably and professionally.
If there’s one common discipline that runs across all of big business, it’s got to be keeping a clear, accurate record of every £ and p. It’s essential you understand the fundamentals if you want to make a name for yourself at Aldi – or any other leading organisation. And what better place to learn how to balance the books than at a company with an unparalled reputation for efficiency and accuracy.
We like to finish on a high. So one of our Regional Directors will set you a challenging project that will allow you to demonstrate you’ve understood your experiences. You’ll be able to show you can apply your new knowledge to real-life situations. And you’ll have one last, glorious opportunity to show a successful career at Aldi is just around the corner. Those who impress will be offered the chance to stay on a further three months and gain a full year’s invaluable experience.
